Two injured in separate ATV crashes

Two separate ATV crashes, one in Kandiyohi County and the other in Meeker County, sent two individuals to the hospital Thursday.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office said Hunter Narragon, 20, of Atwater, was seriously injured when he apparently struck a deer and was thrown from his ATV. He was airlifted to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale with life-threatening injuries.

The crash, which was reported at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, happened near the intersection of 230th Street and 600th Avenue in Litchfield Township.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Litchfield Fire Department, Litchfield Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care responded to the scene. The Sheriff's Office also was assisted by Litchfield and Atwater police.

An ATV crash west of Pennock Thursday evening also left the driver hospitalized. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office identified him as Michael Tyler Michaelson, 29, of Osakis.

The Sheriff's Office said Michaelson, who was working for D & H Field Services, was riding across a field when he apparently struck the end of a drainage ditch and was thrown from his machine. He was transported by LifeLink 3 to St. Cloud Hospital with a leg fracture and possible rib injuries.

The crash was reported at about 8:30 p.m. south of U.S. Highway 12 and west of County Road 7 in St. Johns Township.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Pennock First Responders, Pennock Fire Department, Willmar Ambulance and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad.

The crash remains under investigation.
