Donald A. Jensen

Donald Alan Jensen, age 89 of Atwater, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. He was born March 29, 1928 in Minneapolis, the son of Hardy and Evelyn (Mae) Jensen. On April 14, 1962 Donald A. Jensen and Joan E. Smith were united in marriage. Joan passed away April 25, 1996. On December 20, 2006 Donald A. Jensen and Joyce A. Finstrom were united in marriage. Don drove truck over the road for a few years. He worked many trades, including being an auto mechanic, L.P. service and delivery for King Gas, and school bus driver in Wright County for many years. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, and as a Senior Companion and KAT driver in Kandiyohi County for 10 yrs. Don was a member of the Rockford United Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. He was also a 50-year Mason at the Nelson Lodge #136 in Buffalo. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, traveling, camping, and his dogs. He loved playing his Omnichord with his Texas friends, telling jokes and doing card tricks. Don loved living on Diamond Lake with Joyce, going out in the pontoon, watching the grandkids jump in the lake, the fishermen and beautiful sunsets. Faith, family and friends were important to him.

Preceded in death by his parents, Hardy and Evelyn Jensen; first wife, Joan Jensen; sons, Steven Jensen, Mike Jensen; and daughter, Sheri Gold. Survived by his wife, Joyce Jensen of Atwater; children, James Jensen of Bacliff, TX, Karen (Ron) Sikora of Woodville, TX, Bruce Jensen of League City, TX, Kathy (Mark) Ryan of Laporte, TX, Lauri (John) Pfeffer of Watertown, MN, Brian (Kathy) Jensen of Council Bluffs, IA; son-in-law, Harry Gold of West Hartford, CT; stepchildren, Linda (David) Loken of Ramsey, MN, Wesley (Sandra) Finstrom of Kandiyohi, MN, Joy (Dan Fennell) Olson of Orono, MN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Godchildren, Peggy Ziebarth and Jessica and Emily Vandenhewel; and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at United Presbyterian Church, 6301 Maple St, Rockford, MN. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford. A Masonic service will be held prior to services. Serving the family is The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. 763-682-1363. www.thepetersonchapel.com.
