Monte to host sex offender release meeting
MONTEVIDEO — The Montevideo Police Department is hosting a community notification meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Community Center, 550 South First Street, regarding the return of a convicted sex offender to the community.
According to a news release, Matthew Joseph Cassell, 27, has completed his sentence and will be moving to an address in the area of Fourth Street North and Milwakon Avenue in Montevideo.
Cassell was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Lac qui Parle County District Court on April 26, 2011. He was charged with criminal sexual contact involving two children, a 4-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
Representatives of the Police Department and the state Department of Corrections will offer information on public safety at the meeting.
