Man pleads guilty to molesting 5-year-old boy
WILLMAR — A 24-year-old man from Texas has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct in the molestation of a child in his care.
Alexander Rudy Gamez, 24, of Carrizo Springs, Texas, had been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
In a plea agreement, Gamez pleaded guilty in Kandiyohi County District Court to a second-degree charge for having sexual contact with a child younger than 13. The others will be dismissed at sentencing.
Gamez has an Oct. 4 sentencing date.
Gamez was accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old boy in Willmar in spring 2017. The child's family had observed him behaving inappropriately. The boy's behavior had been worsening, and he had been agitated. The mother told authorities that the boy said Gamez had molested him.
According to the court file, the boy told his mother and later told a detective and social worker that Gamez had touched and had oral sex with the boy. Gamez also made the boy touch and perform oral sex on him.
The mother told authorities she tried to assure the boy that he didn't do anything wrong and was not in trouble. She told him he needed to tell the truth and talk to other people about what had happened.
The boy said it happened several times in different rooms in his home. The boy's mother told authorities that she and her husband worked opposite shifts, so one of them was always home. However, there were times when both needed to be gone for short periods of time and Gamez was sometimes left alone with the children.
