Lloyd Carlson Jr.

Lloyd Carlson Jr., 80 of Spicer, died January 8, 2017 at his home in Spicer. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Lloyd Carlson Jr. was born on January 22, 1936 on the family farm near Hawick, the son of Lloyd and Edna (Gatewood) Carlson. He grew up in the Hawick area where he attended country grade school and New London High School, graduating in 1954. After his schooling he entered the United States Airforce. On May 26, 1956, Lloyd was married to Marie Hendrickson. To this union two daughters and a son were born. They made their home in Reno, NV before moving back to Minnesota where they lived in the twin cities area and Lloyd worked as a steel worker. In retirement they moved to Willmar and Spicer in 1992. Lloyd and Marie were able to share in 53 years of marriage before her death on December 19, 2009.

Lloyd was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, NASCAR, playing cards and watching his grandchildren grow.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Callie (Philip) Boncore of Orlando, FL, Mike (Belinda) Carlson of St. Francis, and Debra Lauseng of Orlando, FL; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Travis and Brandon Boncore, Justin Lauseng, and Arianna Carlson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; parents and sister, Betty Gronli.
