Dorothy Lavonne Rote

Dorothy Lavonne Rote, 90, of Lake Florida, died Wednesday, April 19th at her home. Her memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred.

Dorothy Lavonne Rote was born on January 9, 1927, to Claude and Nora (Runden) Finley in Franklin. She attended elementary and high school in Franklin. Following her graduation, Dorothy attended Teachers College in Mankato. After receiving her degree, she started working for Parkway Chevrolet in Redwood Falls. She continued to work there until 1949. On April 9, 1949, Dorothy married Gene Rote. To this marriage two daughters and a son were born. Dorothy and Gene built a cabin on Lake Florida while living in Redwood Falls. In 1999, Dorothy and Gene built their house and moved permanently to Lake Florida. Dorothy enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, a good joke and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time outside at their house and being at the lake.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Claudia Rote of Burnsville and Julie Rote of Spicer as well as other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, son, Todd and siblings: Roger Finley and Claudette Kopp.
