Verna A. Wright

Verna A. Wright, 93, of Willmar, died Monday, September 11 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in Clover Leaf Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Verna Arleen Wright was born July 11, 1924, twelfth of thirteen children, to Norval and Marie (Nelson) Helgeson in Arctander Township. She was baptized and confirmed at West Lake Lutheran Church in rural Sunburg. She lived and worked on the family farm while attending country school. In August of 1942, Verna married Wilbur Wright at the Justice of the Peace in Bemidji. To this union, Charles and Phillip were born. Following their marriage, Verna and Wilbur moved to Willmar where they made their home. She loved cooking for friends and family, especially her buns and pies! Verna had a love for almost all animals, having many different kinds throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and spending time at Norway Lake, Nest Lake and Gilchrist Lake. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Verna is survived by her sons: Chuck (Pat) Wright of New London, and Phillip (Pat) Wright of Willmar; grandchildren: Scott (Annette) Wright, Troy (Colleen) Wright and Amy (Michael) Mortensen; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur; brothers: Loren Helgeson, Lester Helgeson, Myron Helgeson, Walter Helgeson; and sisters: Helen Braaten, Frances Helgeson, Gladys Braaten, Lillian Burger, Ruth Aguirre, Avis Knutson, Ardis Mullis and Mildred Call.
