Delores R. Nelson

Delores R. Nelson, 90, of Willmar died Thursday, January 11th, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, January 15th, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home.

Delores R. Nelson was born November 30, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Gustave A. and Ragnhild (Green) Nelson. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from the High School of Mechanical Arts in 1945. On February 26, 1948, Delores was united in marriage to Carl Nelson at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They lived in Coon Rapids where they owned a shoe and repair store. The couple lived in Inver Grove Heights where Delores worked for American Hoist. In 1963, they moved to Pine City where they owned and operated Nelson's Bakery from 1963-1970. They moved Nelson's Bakery to Hastings for one year. The family moved to Okeechobee, FL, in 1971 where they owned and operated The Town and Country Bakery and Restaurant. In 1982, they returned to Minnesota and lived in Stillwater where Delores worked at K-Mart for 10 years. Following retirement, they moved to Pennock in 1992. Carl preceded her in death on December 28, 2009.

Delores was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Delores was a gifted seamstress; making her own wedding dress, lots of doll clothes and quilts over the years. She was an avid MN sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Wild and Vikings whenever they played. Delores was a very positive person, always finding the good in any situation and never complained. She looked forward to the time she could spend with family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children: Stephen (and Kathleen) Nelson of Stillwater, David (and Margie) Nelson of Apple Valley, Carol Dillabough of Willmar, and Carl (and Shevon) Nelson of Toledo, OH; 8 grandchildren: Stephen (Lisa) Nelson, Sarah Nelson, Matt (Nichole) Nelson, Brian Nelson, Travis Dillabough, Christina (Jason) Olson, Shane (Dustine Reed) Dillabough, Cyrus Nelson; 10 great-grandchildren: Kiara, Andrew, Adreana, Calee, Ellie, Tyler, Gavin, Wyatt, Aiden and Natalie; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Esther Sauber, Lillian Kult, Warren Green, Charles Green, Clarence Green; and son-in-law, James Dillabough.
