Henrietta "Hank" Kessler

Hank Kessler, age 90, passed away on June 10, 2018 at Galeon Nursing Home Osakis. She was born to parents Henry A. and Frankie I. Miller in West St. Paul. Hank graduated from South St. Paul High School and the University of Minnesota.Using her college degree, she first worked for the South St. Paul Parks and Recreation leading youth activities for Kaposia Park. Hank then landed a job at the Sauk Centre Home School (Department of Corrections) as its first recreation director. She worked at the Home School for 29 years in various capacities as cottage staff and community relations/volunteer director. She was also a substitute teacher for the Sauk Centre Public Schools. Hank volunteered for many civic activities including the VFW and Legion auxiliaries, Campfire Girls program, community blood drive, community concerts, combined fund drive program and the Red Hats. Hank was an avid bowler, golfer and softball player participating in leagues around the area. She was ever present at her grandchildren's athletic events always yelling words of encouragement! She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers, and her husband John in 2015. She is survived by her son John (Renee') Kessler of Duluth, daughter Jessie (George) Jacobson of Willmar and grandchildren George (Briana Goldschmidt) and Kelsey (Alex Bade) Jacobson, Jena, Sara and Jack Kessler. At her request there will be no services, but for those who knew her, to partake in the tradition of her maternal family and toast her life as she did make those around her laugh and enjoy life.
