Editorial: Take time to enjoy Holidaze today

The annual Holidaze event in downtown Willmar today helps open the holiday season for the community.

An estimated 5,000 people gather in downtown Willmar streets for the various events on the schedule, highlighted by the annual Holidaze parade.

The schedule is full of food, festivals and music to help bring enjoyment and fun to the weekend event and help open the holiday season.

The day’s activities begin at 3 p.m. with the Santa’s reindeer and sleigh rides for kids, and exotic animals.

Santa and friends plus the Willmar Area Arts Council Invitational Art Exhibit also starts at 3 p.m. at the Barn Theatre.

The Becker Market Cafe Winter Edition and the authentic Mexican treats at the Multicultural Center begins at 3 p.m.

There will be a Children’s Choir Concert and chili feed at 4 p.m. at Bethel Church.

The treelighting at Selvig Park begins at 6 p.m.

The Holidaze Parade begins at 6 p.m.

The evening concludes with the “Poratit of the Artist as a YoYo Man” performance at the Barn.
