Letter: Is history repeating itself?

Tablet computer with blank screen on a businessman workplace

Before Donald Trump officially became president, I wrote a letter that was printed Jan. 11 saying that there was no use in complaining about it, because he would be our president no matter what.

I am now officially retracting that statement, since there is now plenty to complain about.

The media is comparing President Trump to President Nixon. While Nixon was in office, he felt he was above the law. But then the Watergate scandal was exposed, and Nixon felt compelled to resign.

I was 10 when that happened. At that age, I didn't really follow the news that much, so I wasn't sure why he resigned. I only knew that he did.

I have a niece who is now 10. I fear that she's about to experience something similar. This is a prime example of how history repeats itself.
