Amateur Baseball: Sacred Heart hammers Rails

SACRED HEART — Jeremy Hinderks had a home run and double among his three hits and he drove in four runs, and Dakota Freiborg doubled in three runs to lead Sacred Heart to a 12-6 Cornbelt League win over the Willmar Rails on Tuesday night.

The Rails took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the third but the Saints scored five runs.

The Rails cut the margin to one on Josh Oestreich’s two-run home run in the top of the fourth, but the Saints extended the lead with two runs in the sixth and then took away any threat of a comeback with a four-run seventh.

Sacred Heart’s Mike Johnson, Ryan Hebrink drove in runs and Jeff Hinderks hit a solo homer in his lone at bat.

Willmar’s Jordan Ruter was 3-for-4, Tyler Brower had a pair of hits and Adam Fagerstrom drove in a run.

Willmar is at Litchfield today and the Saints (9-7) host Milroy on Sunday.
