Legion Baseball: Alexandria hammers Willmar 12-1

WILLMAR — The Willmar Legion team took an early lead but it didn’t last long as Alexandria scored five runs in the third inning and went on to a 12-1 win on Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Willmar fell to 11-9 overall and plays its last regular-season game against St. Joseph at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Willmar.

Willmar opens the district playoffs as the No. 5 seed against Dassel-Cokato on Thursday in Cold Spring.

On Thursday, Tyler Stegeman, Austin Rambow, Cooper Scott, Evan VanDenEinde and Brandon Christensen had Willmar’s hits.

Rambow scored the team’s lone run on Evan VanDenEinde’s single in the second after singling, stealing second and moving to third on Scott’s single.
