Minnesota fourth at Culver’s Midwest Cup;  Jacobson ties for 28th

Team Minnesota placed fourth of eight teams Sunday at the end of the three-day Culver’s Midwest Cup held Wildhorse Golf Club near Gothenberg in central Nebraska. Individually, Andy Jacobson, 33, of Willmar tied for 28th place overall with rounds of 74-71-80-225. He had been tied for sixth after two rounds.

Though it was a disappointing final round, he called the experience “incredible” playing on a superb links-style course with top amateurs from around the Midwest. The five-time Lakeland Tournament champion had the third lowest score on Minnesota’s nine-man team.

Jacobson played the final round in a foursome with the event’s individual champion, Todd Mitchell, who shot a trio of 68s to lead the field by a dozen strokes, while leading Illinois to the team title.
