CLARA CITY — MACCRAY rallied from a 3-1 deficit against Sauk Centre to topple the Mainstreeters 4-3 and complete a perfect day at a home triangular Friday to open the season.

Sauk Centre won three of four singles matches to take an early lead, but the Wolverines’ 1-doubles team of Annie Sandry/Kaylee Christenson won a super tie-breaker in the third set and Jenna Mersbergen won another super tie-breaker in the third set to tie the match at 3-3. Heather Marcus and Belle Brynjulfson then won in straight sets at 2-doubles to complete the MACCRAY rally.

The Wolverines’ first win came from the 3-doubles tandem of Emily Woods/Haylee Sandry.

Early in the day MACCRAY blanked Redwood Valley 7-0 after losing only two sets. Brynjulfson didn’t lose a game at 4-singles while Amber Wieberdink at 1-singles, Mersbergen at 2-singles, Kim Trulock at 3-singles and Marcus/Haylee Sandry at 2-doubles also won in straight sets for the Wolverines.

MACCRAY next plays on Tuesday when it hosts Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd.

The Jaguars lost just one set en route to posting a non-conference sweep in their season opener Friday. Mackenzie Winter lost only one game at 3-singles, while Cassandra Hoppe won 6-3, 6-3 at 1-singles and Daisha Meyer/Mattea Eckstein posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at 1-doubles for BBE.
