game is back

The West Central Tribune invites you to play High School Football Pigskin Picks 2013.

All the features are here for you: private groups with message boards, picking until one hour before game time and prizes.

Go to the Tribune’s web site: Go to “Inside West Central” Tribune and click on the Pigskin Picks tab and follow the directions.

Tribune’s Pigskin Preview coming Thursday

The West Central Tribune’s annual Pigskin Preview will be published Thursday.

The 2013 Preview features profiles and photographs of 19 Tribune-area teams, Where Are They Now stories on former prep stars and more.

Pigskin Preview will arrive inserted in the paper for subscribers and single-issue buyers, and copies of the Preview also will be available at the Tribune offices at 2208 Trott Avenue in Willmar.

honored by CLC

Willmar Cardinals junior forward Shelby Schneider scored twice in a 3-0 victory over visiting Glencoe-Silver Lake last Thursday, earning her Girls Soccer Performer of the Week in the Central Lakes Conference.

It is the first week for the weekly honor roll supplied by CLC secretary Roger Wilson.

Willmar Ride for the

Trails set for Sept. 21

Ride for Trails is a bike ride through the Willmar community to raise funds to complete the trail system, plus a connector to the Glacial Ridge Trail.

The Sept. 21, a Saturday, ride starts at 9 a.m. (registration opens at the Community Center at 8 a.m.). Choose from 18-, 9- or 5-mile loops.

The fee, which includes a t-shirt, is $20 before Sept. 2 and $25 after. Phone 231-8490 or email for more information.

Men’s soccer final is Sunday at Roosevelt

The men’s adult league Sunday Soccer championship game will be played Sunday afternoon at the Roosevelt Elementary pitch.

League secretary Tony Martinez said the first kick is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Somali Starz will play Olinpia for the playoff championship. A.C. Milan and GMX Boys play for the third-place trophy.

The league had 13 teams this season.
