Montevideo clipped in last seconds by HLWW

Jeff Hammer of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted made a layup with four seconds left to break a tie and give the Lakers a 47-45 win over Montevideo in a state Class AA boys basketball tourna-ment quarterfinal game Wednesday at Williams Arena.

The Thunder Hawks held a 24-15 halftime lead.

Eric Brandon led Montevideo with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jeff Jerve added 12 points and 11 boards. Jake Douglas, who made the Thunder Hawks' last basket to force the 45-45 tie with 47 seconds remaining, finished with eight points.
