Prep Softball: ACGC rallies to beat Montevideo

GROVE CITY -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City rallied for four runs in the sixth inning and defeated Montevideo 8-6 in a West Central South Conference softball game on Monday.

The Falcons (1-1, 1-2) trailed 5-4 in the sixth inning before Bethany Nelson rapped a two-run double, Mary Larson followed with a run-scoring single and Megan Daun delivered an RBI double.

Nelson and Daun finished with two hits each.

Jazmin Petersen was the winning pitcher, going the distance and allowing six hits, while walking four and striking out 10.

Kayla Berget smacked a two-run home run to left field in the third inning for the Thunder Hawks (0-3, 0-4). Berget and Jaci Clauson had two hits each.

Benson/Hancock held off a late Sting rally to win the opener. YME plated five runs in the top of the seventh, but the rally fell short.

Taylor Semler pitched the first five innings, then returned to get the final out.
