WILLMAR -- The Willmar Rails had the bases loaded with one out and one run already scored in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't plate the winning run in a 6-5 Cornbelt South League amateur baseball loss to Granite Falls Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Travis Koenen led off the inning with a walk and later scored on a fielder's choice by Matt Carlson. Matt Sagedahl singled, and Lane Kleist walked. Josh Dahkle took a walk to load the bases.

But the Rails (1-2, 1-2) didn't get the ball to the outfield in the last two at bats, leaving all runners stranded.

The Kilowatts scored all of their runs in the third inning on three straight RBI singles and a three-run double from Chad Listul.

Tyler Kanten pitched all but the last out for Granite Falls for the win. He gave up nine hits, struck out five and walked four. Cody Fruin got the save.

Cody Scott took the loss, pitching the first four innings for the Rails. Jason Scheffler threw five scoreless innings of relief.
