New London-Spicer routs Atwater in amatuer baseball

ATWATER -- New London-Spicer scored 10 runs in the third inning and went on to a 17-4 rain-shortened victory in a Cornbelt League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Adam Luberts went 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Twins (6-6, 6-7). Scott Ramboe had two hits and drove in three runs. Ben Kulseth also drove in three runs. Ryan Speltz had two hits.

Speltz scattered six hits and seven walks in five innings of work. He struck out five.

Jordan Tanner had two hits for the Chuckers (5-7, 5-7).

Grant Johnson singled in Chris Braaten with the eventual winning run in the seventh inning for the Lakers (6-5, 6-5).

Braaten led off with single and Kent Gjerde was hit by a pitch before Johnson singled.

Braaten went the distance on a five-hitter for the win. The right-hander walked five and struck out seven. Brant Beckman had two hits and drove in a run for the Lakers.

Shannon Olmscheid had two hits and two RBI for the Pirates (3-9, 3-9).

Josh Beier's suicide squeeze bunt with one out in the bottom of the ninth scored Shane Radermacher with the winning run for the Eagles (4-6, 5-7).

Starbuck trailed 8-0 before staging a late comeback with two runs in the sixth, one in the seventh, two in the eighth and three in the ninth.

With one out in the ninth, Andrew Olson clubbed a three-run homer, following a hit batsmen and a walk, to tie the game. Mike Andreas hit a solo homer in the seventh for Starbuck (1-10, 1-10).

In the bottom of the ninth, Radermacher singled with one out, Andy Hadley reached on an error and Jordan Beier walked to load the bases. Josh Beier then laid down a perfect squeeze bunt and Radermacher scored without a throw to the plate.

Regal's Austen Hadley got the final two outs in the ninth to get credit for the win.

Austen Hadley, Radermacher and Steve Gerding had two hits each for Regal. Josh Krupke drove in three runs.

Litchfield scored three times in the sixth inning to tie the game, then plated the eventual winning run in the seventh inning on an error.

Jon Euerle worked three scoreless innings of relief for the win. He allowed three hits, while walking two and striking out five. David Pennertz hurled the first six inning and was touched for four hits and two earned runs.

Russ Nathe had two hits and an RBI for the Blues.

Eric Schwinghamer had two hits for Granite City.
