Legion Baseball: Willmar walks over GFW; BOLD blanks Kerkhoven

FAIRFAX -- Willmar batters took 13 walks in a 19-9 win over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thursday in Legion baseball action.

Post 167 (5-6) also scored four runs on bases-loaded walks.

Willmar scored at least two runs in every inning, including seven in the fourth. Josh Oestreich, who went 2-for-4, tripled with the bases loaded for three runs. He finished with four RBI.

John Sawatzky hit a two-run single in the second inning and finished with four RBI. Logan Birkland and Austin Adamson added two hits each.

Andrew Bangen pitched the first four innings for the win. He gave up seven runs on eight hits. Sawatzky threw the fifth inning.

Shawn Dollerschell's solo home run in the first inning for BOLD was all Jake Stevens needed in holding Kerkhoven to five hits in the shutout victory.

BOLD plated three more runs in the fifth, highlighted by RBI singles from Kyle Athmann and Jake Boersma.

Trevor Sandgren tossed a five-hit complete game for a Redwood Falls win. He surrendered three runs, struck out eight and walked two.

Sandgren also smacked three hits for Redwood Falls, one of them being a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Taylor Tollefson took the loss for Granite Falls.

Montevideo 9, Milroy 7

Cam Vien earned the win for Montevideo after six innings on the mound. He allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking one.

At the plate, Vien smacked a two-run homer in the top of the third inning for Montevideo to cut down Milroy's early lead.

Mitch Christensen used the suicide squeeze to give Montevideo the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Christian Brabender hit a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning to give Montevideo the lead.

Troy Hendrickson scored three runs for Montevideo after slapping three singles.

Milroy's Eric Lanoue and Alex Jones had two hits each.
