VFW Baseball: Willmar upends Madison

MADISON -- Dean Stier went 3-for-3 to back the combined five-hit pitching of Nathaniel Swoyer and Gabe Amon as Willmar defeated Madison 8-2 in VFW baseball action on Friday.

Willmar (5-1, 7-2) scored twice in the first inning, then led 5-0 with three more runs in the third. After Madison scored its two runs in the home half of the third, Willmar capped the scoring with a three-run fifth.

Swoyer went 2-for-3 and Amon was 1-for-3 with a run-scoring double.

Swoyer hurled six innings for the win, allowing five hits. He walked two and struck out five. Amon pitched a hitless seventh inning.
