Richter Field update

The ballpark on the river at Granite Falls has a new picnic shelter along the first-base line, shown in the background of Monday’s American Legion game. Pictured is Montevideo’s Logan Knoshal bunting with Granite Falls catcher Dylan Johnson and umpire Tim Tanner.

Framed by the high bluffs of the Minnesota River and protected by a dike topped by a hiking path, Richter Field’s forest-green outfield fence was replaced two years ago. The outfield was leveled and reseeded in the fall of 2012 and foul territory in the fall of 2013. The infield appears without flaw.

Richter Field hosted the state amateur tournament in 1989 and 1999.
