Ridgewater sweeps Itasca in baseball

WILLMAR -- Ridgewater wrapped up a productive Easter weekend, including a sweep of Itasca on Saturday in the MCAC Cross-Over Tournament.

The Warriors won the opener 9-6 and then completed the sweep with a 9-8 victory in the second game.

Ridgewater topped Vermilion twice on Friday.

In the opener Saturday, Nathan Nietfeld hurled four shutout innings for the win, allowing only two hits. Mike Weber, Austen Hadley and Luke Frauendienst had two hits apiece.

In the nightcap, Ridgewater led 9-0 before holding off a late Itasca comeback bid.

Hadley, Shane Kampsen and Matt Christensen had two hits each. Weber drove in three runs and Kampsen and Christensen each knocked in two runs.

Cody Conners earned the win, hurling the first 5Zc innings and allowing five hits and three runs.
