Prep Baseball: NLS avenges loss to LPGE
SPICER -- New London-Spicer scored four times in the first inning, then rode the combined three-hit pitching of Jack Schwaegerl and Tyler Haats to defeat Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 4-1 in a West Central North Conference baseball game on Monday.
Schwaegerl allowed three hits and one run over four innings for the win. Haats pitched three hitless innings for the save.
The Wildcats avenged a 4-3 loss to LPGE on April 20 in Long Prairie.
Shawn Hatlestad started the first-inning rally with a single and Luke Peterson was hit by a pitch. Kevin Soine then doubled in Hatlestad. Schwaegerl's single plated Peterson for a 2-0 lead. Soine scored the third run on a wild pitch and Schwaegerl came around to score the final run on an error.
Soine had a pair of doubles in three trips for the Wildcats (5-7, 6-7).
Mitch Branby drove in the lone run of the game for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (6-5, 8-5).

Wright County Annandale 10, Litchfield 7
Annandale scored three unearned runs in the top of the eighth to overcome Litchfield 10-7 on Monday in a Wright County baseball game.
The Cardinals jumped in front with a seven-run third inning. Walks set the table for run-scoring doubles by James Chapman, Brady Stromme and Dillon Dougherty. Chapman's scored three runners.
Litchfield tied it 7-7 with a four-run fourth. Matt Spreiter, who went 3-for-5 with a double, Eric Hulterstrom and Brady Smith each had RBI hits.
But the Dragons didn't score again, shut out the last 3Zc innings by Alec Erhard, who got the win.
Litchfield pitchers Aaron Valiant and David Yordi gave up 11 walks.
