Amateur Baseball: Rambow hit in ninth lifts NL-Spicer past Atwater

ATWATER -- Scott Rambow belted a three-run double with one out in the top of the ninth inning Sunday and New London-Spicer rallied to beat Atwater 5-4 in a Cornbelt League amateur baseball game.

Down 4-2 entering the ninth, the Twins (5-6, 11-7) loaded the bases on an error and consecutive walks. Rambow then cleared the bases with his double to right-center field.

Rambow finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Mike Danielson was 2-for-5.

Darren Ogdahl went the distance on a six-hitter for the win. He walked five and struck out eight.

Jordan Tanner had a two-run single for the Chuckers (4-7, 8-9) in the fourth inning. Brian Kingery took the loss, allowing seven hits and four runs over eight innings.

Starbuck took the lead in the eighth with the help of two NL-Sunburg (3-8, 4-10) errors.

Mike VanOverbeke led the Stars with two hits. Ryan Gandrud doubled.

Joe Heidelberger pitched three innings of relief for the win. He allowed three unearned runs on three hits, struck out two and walked three.

Jared Johnson had three hits and two RBI, and Kent Gjerde had two hits and two RBI to lead the Lakers.

Brent Savelkoul doubled home Aaron Savelkoul with the eventual winning run in the top of the 11th inning for Paynesville.

Stephen Pennertz singled in the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Litchfield.

Gabe Lecher slugged a two-run homer for the Blues in the first inning.

Stephen Pennertz also notched the win in relief, hurling 3Zc innings and allowing three hits and on unearned run.

Stephen Pennertz and Joe Pennertz had three hits apiece for the Blues. Lecher, Lucas Johnson, Terry Euerle and Aaron Solbrack had two hits each.
