Gymnastics: NLS's Dietz 14th, Willmar's Jacobson 18th on vault at state

MINNEAPOLIS -- Alanna Dietz of New London-Spicer finished 14th on the vault to highlight area athletes at the state Class A gymnastics meet Saturday at the University of Minnesota.

Dietz turned in vaults of 9.3 and 9.35. Willmar's Kelsey Jacobson was 18th with vaults of 9.275 and 9.025, and Haley Stahl of the Wildcats only had one vault of 8.725.

Abbey Weiler of Willmar received an 8.05 for her balance beam routine.

Individual champions in Class A were Kelsi Vomacka of Perham in the all-round and floor exercise, Carly Petersen of Perham on the vault and Amy Crawford of Detroit Lakes on the uneven bars and balance beam.

Perham won Friday's Class A team championship.
