MACCRAY to face Maranatha in Class A state boys basketball tourney

MINNEAPOLIS -- Maranatha Christian Academy cooled off Minnesota Transitions 52-50 in the Section 4A boys basketball championship Friday night. Transitions had scored 149, 106 and 82 points in its first three postseason wins.

MACCRAY, which beat Hills-Beaver Creek 70-61 in the Section 3A championship Thursday in Marshall, will face Maranatha Christian Academy at 1 p.m. Thursday at Williams Arena.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Rushford-Peterson will open the tournament at 11 a.m. Rushford-Peterson won the 1A title on Thursday.

In other quarterfinal games on Thursday, Lakeview Christian Academy will meet Fosston at 3 p.m., followed by Springfield and Upsala at 5 p.m.

The semifinals will be Friday at noon and 2 p.m. at Target Center in Minneapolis. The championship will be played at noon on Saturday at Target Center.

MACCRAY is making its first state appearance since 1996. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa is making its first-ever state trip.
