WILLMAR -- Fergus Falls, the Central Lakes Conference leader in boys golf, ran away front the 10-team field on a cool and damp Thursday at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.

Led by medalist Taylor Schuck's one-under 71, the Otters shot 302 to win by 15 strokes. The top four Otters each shot in the 70's.

Willmar, Alexandria and Brainerd finished in a three-way tie for second, each at 317.

Cody Magnuson, a sophomore, led a young Cardinal team by firing a 76. Next was another sophomore, Hunter Schneider, with a 77, then two freshmen, Tony Kallevig at 81 and Hunter Mottinger with an 83.

Kallevig got off to a tough start that included a triple bogey on No. 5 on the way to a 43 on the front nine before he regained form to shoot a 38 on the back nine.

St. Cloud Tech's Charley Braniff, the 2010 Class AAA state champion, was runner-up with a 74.

Willmar remains in third place behind Fergus Falls and second-place Alexandria. Willmar and Alexandria have now tied in three CLC meets in a row.
