Brandt wins Minnesota Wrestling Media Award

He will receive the Media Award from the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association on April 28 for his work calling wrestling matches for KSCR/KBMO Radio.

Long-time area broadcaster Jason Brandt is this year's recipient of the Media Award from the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association.

Brandt is the Assistant General Manager at KSCR/KBMO Radio, in Benson, and has served as the station's Sports Director and play-by-play voice since 1991.

Brandt will be honored at the MWCA's Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, April 28, at McKinney's in Benson. Coaches of the Year, Mr. Minnesota Wrestler and eight Hall of Fame inductees also will be recognized at the banquet.

Brandt is a 1988 Benson High School graduate who launched his broadcasting career while still in high school, providing play-by-play and color commentary at events beginning in 1986. He studied communications at Ridgewater College, Bemidji State and St. Cloud State, where he covered football, men's hockey, baseball and women's basketball.

Brandt returned to Benson in 1991 to begin his professional broadcast career at KSCR/KBMO.

During his career, Brandt was awarded the "Golden Sully Award" for best play-by-play in Minnesota by the Minnesota News Network, and the Benson school district honored him with the Distinguished Service Award in 2002.
