College baseball: Ridgewater splits doubleheader

BRAINERD -- The Ridgewater baseball team split a doubleheader with Central Lakes on Wednesday, winning 10-6 in the opener and losing 10-0 in the second game.

The Warriors are 7-12 overall and play next against Minnesota West in a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m. in Willmar.

They play another weekend doubleheader at Rochester, beginning at 1 p.m., on Sunday.

In Game One on Wednesday, the Warriors broke open a 2-2 game with five runs in the fifth inning.

After Central Lakes pulled within two with a two-run sixth, the Warriors piled on three more runs in the seventh.

Zach Fischer had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, and Jason Shaul also had two hits and an RBI. Taylor Gonyea had a hit, an RBI and scored three runs.

In the second game, the Warriors managed just two hits -- both from Travis Kaul -- off Central Lakes starter and winner Taz Seibert, who worked all six innings, didn't walk anyone and struck out three.
