Boys Tennis: YME clips LQPV/DB

GRANITE FALLS -- Yellow Medicine East wrapped up a West Central Conference match on Wednesday that was suspended May 1 with only the singles matches completed.

The teams were tied 2-2 after singles but the Sting swept the doubles matches for the 5-2 victory.

LQPV/DB's Jack Hansen and Jeff Hansen won at 1-singles and 2-singles, but neither YME's David Nowacki and nor Ethan Ator lost a game in winning at 3-singles and 4-singles.

On Wednesday, Carter Iverson and Brandon Repscher won at 1-doubles, and James DeJager and Todd Nowacki sealed the match for YME with their win at 2-doubles.

The Sting's Grant Elliott and Shane Nokelby and LQPV/DB's Trevor Sigdahl and Kaine Matthies battled through a tough three-set match at No. 3 before Elliott and Nokelby prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker.

The Sting are 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Both teams play in the conference tournament on Saturday in Benson beginning at 9 a.m.
