Legion Baseball: Scarlets edge Granite Falls

Tribune Staff Report

SACRED HEART -- Ryan Fransen outdueled Austin Thorstad and Sacred Heart/MACCRAY produced their runs on just two hits as the Scarlets evened their record by collecting a 2-1 win Monday over Granite Falls.

Brett Feldman reached on an error to start the bottom half of the first inning before moving to third base on a hit batter and a Mitch Treml fly ball. Fransen then launched another fly ball to left field, allowing Brett Feldman to tag up from third.

Dylan Abraham drove in the Scarlets' second run in the second when his two-out single plated Chris Feldman, who also singled to lead off the frame.

The two runs were just enough for Fransen to pick up the win on the mound as he struck out seven and scattered two walks and six hits in a complete-game performance. Thorstad fanned five without issuing a walk in his complete game.

Granite Falls scored its lone run in the fourth when Dalton LaBatte drew a bases-loaded walk that allowed Aaron Zieske to trot home from third.
