WILLMAR -- The Alexandria 16's jumped out to a big lead early against the Willmar VFW I team and two Alex pitchers scattered eight Willmar hits in an 8-3 victory on Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Both teams were unbeaten in district play entering the contest.

Alexandria's Parker Bowda allowed three runs on seven hits and he didn't allow a walk while striking out seven. Travis Krueger shut down Willmar the final two innings.

Willmar's Tyler Stegeman and Josh Tinklenberg both had two hits and Stegeman drove in two runs. Tony McCleary had a double and drove in a run, and Cole Hagen, Carter Sack and Austin Smith had Willmar's other hits. Tinklenberg, Smith and Trey Tollefson scored Willmar's runs.
