Amateur Baseball: Ninth-inning rally lifts Litchfield over Raymond

RAYMOND -- Eric Hulterstrom had five hits and Gabe Lecher hit a two-run single in the top half of the ninth inning to lift Litchfield past Raymond 11-10 in a non-league game Wednesday.

The Blues outhit Raymond 16-9, but fell behind 10-9 after the Rockets plated four runs in the eighth. Kyle Knott highlighted the frame with a two-run homer, his second home run of the game.

Eric Hulterstrom pitched 3.1 relief innings after Lecher worked into the sixth to get the win. Hulterstrom sandwiched the Rockets' eighth with a scoreless seventh and ninth.

Lecher added two more singles and another RBI, Shane Gutormson went 4-for-5, and Terry Euerle and Matt Spreiter had two hits each to drive in a total of five runs.

Brandon Madsen and Jordan Smith also had two hits each for Raymond, which is at Marshall Friday for a Cornbelt League game.

Bird Island tore up Brownton's bullpen, scoring eight runs in the eighth and ninth innings to post the non-league victory on Wednesday in Brownton.

Bird Island improved to 12-9 overall and plays next at Atwater on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. but the start time could be pushed up depending on the status of Atwater's field lights.

On Wednesday, Ben Maiers, Dylan Gass, Tyler Hebrink, Luke Kramer and Jeremy Mortensen all had three hits and combined to drive in eight runs.

Kyle Krause worked a complete game for the win, and he also drove in two runs.

Willmar collected its second win of the season after outlasting Dassel on the road.
