WILLMAR -- Coming off a tie at St. Cloud Tech on Tuesday in which they played some of their best soccer of the season, the Willmar Cardinals were cooled off by Brainerd 5-0 on Thursday in Central Lakes girls soccer at Kennedy Field.

"We had a fabulous game at Tech but we had nothing left today," said coach Chelsea Brown. "But Brainerd is a very good team and has always been a tough opponent for us."

Several Cardinals also have the flu, she said, and defender Abygayl Nevarez went out with a dislocated shoulder that will keep her sidelined at least one week.

JV II Tournament: On Saturday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. a five school boys and girls round-robin will be held at the high school's four fields Visiting teams include Chain of Lakes and Hutchinson.
