WILLAR — The Ridgewater football team fell behind early and couldn't catch up in a 34-17 loss to Dakota College-Bottineau on Saturday at Hodapp Field.
The Warriors trailed 6-3 after the first quarter but DCB scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-3 lead into halftime. The Jacks led 28-10 after three quarters.
DCB's Elijah Todd ran for 204 yards and two TDs and the Jacks ran for 326 yards and threw for 147 yards.
On defense, the Jacks registered eight sacks, led y Tyler Gay with four.
Ridgewater's Kevin Willis caught scoring passes of seven and 12 yards and Broady Flach hit a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter.
DCB improved to 2-0 in the MCAC's Western Division and 3-1 overall. The Jacks are tied for first with North Dakota State College of Science atop the division.
Ridgewater is 0-2 in the Western Division and 1-3 overall. Central Lakes (2-0, 4-0) and Mesabi Range (2-0, 3-1) are tied for the Eastern Division lead.
The Warriors play at Northland at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
