Twins activate Sano from DL

MINNEAPOLIS—The Minnesota Twins have activated Miguel Sano from the disabled list, where he had been since Aug. 21 because of an injury to his left shin.

The third baseman is available to play in the final series of the season this weekend at Target Field. First pitch against the Detroit Tigers is 7:10 p.m. Friday night.

Wearing a guard on his left shin, Sano took early batting practice with a handful of teammates on Friday afternoon. He as diagnosed with a stress reaction after fouling a ball of his left shin. He was hitting .267 with 28 home runs and 77 RBIs and has missed the past 38 games.

It's expected that if Sano plays again this season it will be as a designated hitter.
