WILLMAR - Alexandria's girls hockey team peppered Willmar's Savana Knutson and it worked in their favor, taking Thursday's game 4-0.

Willmar played nearly all of Thursday's game from behind after allowing a goal to Calley Richardson in the opening minute and they were never able to recover. Alexandria outshot their hosts 39-12 in the game, including a 13-2 advantage in the opening period.

Knutson turned away all eight shots in the second period but McKenna Ellingson scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to make it a 4-0 victory. Kristin Trosvig earned the solo assists on both of Ellingson's goals.

Willmar will hit the road for the first time this year when they take on Prairie Center at 7 p.m. Saturday in Long Prairie.
