Boys Basketball: Vosika triples up in BOLD victory

WILLMAR - BOLD's Gavin Vosika recorded the area's first triple-double of the season, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 82-48 win over MACCRAY on the first day of the Bremer Bank Holiday Classic Friday at Willmar High School.

Vosika fell just three steals shy of a quadruple-double, finishing with seven steals as the Warriors improved to 7-2 on the year.

Karl Kosak led a balanced BOLD attack with 25 points and Jordan Sagedahl rounded out the team's double-digit scorers with 10 points.

MACCRAY's Thomas Kirking scored a team-high 16 points.

BOLD plays Lac qui Parle Valley at 5:30 p.m. today and MACCRAY faces BBE at 3:45 p.m. today.

Sauk Centre and Central Minnesota Christian School kick off Saturday's action at 2 p.m. and Willmar and New London-Spicer meet in the Classic finale at 7:30 p.m.

Noah Slagter scored all of his 17 points in the first half and the Willmar boys basketball team opened up its weekend at the Bremer Bank Holiday Classic with a win over Central Minnesota Christian School.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early double-digit advantage and entered the halftime break with a 42-24 lead, although the Bluejays drew back within single digits with seven minutes remaining.

With the win, Willmar remained undefeated and improved to 8-0 for the first time since 2009.

Behind Slagter, the Cardinals featured a balanced offensive attack. Cameron Murphy scored 11 points, Drey Dirksen had nine points and the trio of Ty Roelofs, Jake Evans and Ryan Slette each scored eight points.

Roelofs nearly posted a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Bluejays' Austin TeBrake scored a game-high 18 points.

Willmar held a lead as large as 27 points at 70-43 with 4:15 left when it pulled its regular rotation players from the game.

New London-Spicer took a halftime tie and turned it into a 10-point victory against BBE Friday night.

Jon Kaelke hit a trio of triples and scored 15 points to lead a balanced Wildcats offensive effort. Ander Arnold added 11 points and Brandon Adelman finished with 10 points.

Arnold neared double-double territory with a game-high nine rebounds.

Evan Wiener was the leader for BBE, tallying 16 points.

Lac qui Parle Valley brought the game to within three points in the final seconds but Sauk Centre was able to hold off the Eagles in the first game of the Bremer Bank Holiday Classic on Friday at Willmar High School.

Caden Bjornjeld hit four 3-point shots and led LQPV with 17 points, Isaac Gerdes had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Braiden Kittelson finished with 14 points and four boards.
