9 area wrestlers in finals tonight

ST. PAUL – Nine West Central Tribune area wrestlers are going for a state title tonight at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

In Class A at 126 pounds, senior Tyler Tenson of Benson faces Quinten Berres, a sophomore from Kimball Area.

In Class A at 145 pounds, junior Larry Bomstad of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City faces Paden Moore of Jackson County Central.

Colten Carlson of Willmar at 152 pounds in Class AAA faces Mark Hall of Apple Valley. Both wrestlers are freshmen and Hall is already a two time state champion.

In the Class A 152 pound match, Zachary Carlson, sophomore from Kerkhoven-Murdock Sunburg, faces senior Garret Hoffner from Mahnomen/Waubun.

Class A 160 pound features KMS senior Jordon Rothers vs. Adam Cooling, a senior from Madelia/Truman/Martin Luther.

In the Class A 182 pound match, senior Patrick Rooney from Benson faces Will Balow, a junior from Lake City.

The Class A 220 pound match guarantees a champion as two juniors from the area face each other: Lucas Damm from ACGC and Chase Norton from KMS

In Class AA 220 pound match, JD Struxness of Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley faces Clay Broze of Cannon Falls.

Wrestling for third place tonight are Logan Peterson, ACGC; Maverick Whitcomb, ACGC and Tyler Jenson, Benson in Class A and Brandon Schmitt, DB/LQPV in Class AA.

Wrestling for fifth place in Class AA are Jakob Stageberg, NLS and Connor Metzger, Morris Area.
