Little Crow Country Club set to open at noon Monday

Little Crow Country Club between Spicer and New London on State Highway 23 has set noon on Monday to open the 2013 season, club pro Sam Drodofsky announced Saturday.

Willmar native Smith finds a groove at plate

Jordan Smith of Willmar put together three straight multi-hit games over the weekend at Fredrick, Maryland, where the Carolina Mudcats took on the Keys in the Class A Carolina league.

The Cats’ cleanup hitter had begun the series with a batting averaging below .200 but went 2-for-5 on both Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday, he singled and scored in the second and then hit a solo homer in the fourth, his first round-tripper of the season, to finish the game 2-for-4.

Smith is now hitting .235 and the Mudcats are 10-13 after losing 10-4 Sunday.

Adult golf lessons offered at Eagle Creek Golf Course

Willmar Community Education and Recreation is offering golf lessons for adults at Eagle Creek Golf Course in both May and June.

The first session is May 6, 7, 13 and 14 from 6-7:30 pm. The second session will meet June 3, 4, 10 and 11 the same hours.

The fee is $49 per session and pre-registration is required.

Basketball camp in Litchfield June 10-13

The Litchfield basketball camp is June 10-13 and is open to players from any school district.

The camp is for players who will have completed third grade through ninth grade.

The camp is Monday through Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The cost is $75 and campers can register with Litchfield Community Education and Recreation at
