Tigers too much for MACCRAY, Pelican Rapids

MORRIS — The Morris/Chokio-Alberta baseball team’s offense is in top form, judging by the Tigers’ two victories on Saturday.

The Tigers batted in just eight innings in their two games but they rapped out 17 hits and scored 28 runs, defeating MACCRAY 13-1 and Pelican Rapids 15-1 in a three-team meeting.

In the other game, MACCRAY came back to defeat Pelican Rapids 6-5. MACCRAY scored four runs in the top of the seventh comeback from a three-run deficit.

Dylan Abraham capped the rally with the go-ahead two-run double, driving in Caleb Melin and Cody Boonstra, who had singled. Abraham then shut down Pelican Rapids in the bottom of the inning for the win.

In Morris/CA’s first game, Tanner Picht, Mac Beyer and Bryce Jergenson all had two hits and combined to drive in six runs. Chandler Erickson also drove in a pair of runs and worked the first four innings on the mound to earn the win. Jake Torgerson struck out the side in the fifth.

Against Pelican Rapids, Picht hit a two-run homer and Beyer had two doubles among his three hits and drove in four runs. Tyler Henrichs tripled, scored three runs and had an RBI, and Ethan Stahman had a double and two RBIs.

Jergenson allowed two hits and struck out three in four innings to earn the win. Karle Meyer worked the final inning, striking out one.

The 2-0 Tigers play next at Minnewaska at 5 p.m. today. MACCRAY is 1-1 and plays RCW at home at 4:30 p.m. today.

MADISON — Lac qui Parle Valley’s offense unloaded on Tracy-Milroy-Balaton pitching to back stellar Eagles pitching in a 9-0 Camden Conference victory Saturday.

The Eagles scored four runs in the first inning and starter Ben Morken and relievers Eric Smith and Colby Siegert combined on a two-hitter while striking out 12.

Preston Kraft was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, Nick Burkleo and two hits and four RBIs, Morken also had two hits and drove in a run, and Austin Haas had a single, two walks and scored twice.
