Area students named Guillotine Academic All-State wrestlers

Three Tribune area student/athletes have been named to the 30-member Guillotine Academic All-State Wrestling second team announced Monday:

Lucas Damm, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, GPA 3.10, record 42-6, 1st place in Class A 220 pounds; Logan Peterson, ACGC, GPA 3.40, 46-4, 3rd place in Class A 138; Jakob Stageberg, NLS, 41-5, GPA 3.96, 5th place in Class AA 113.

Named to the third team were Grant Vagle and Logan Brink, both NLS; and Austin Miley, Willmar.

Receiving honorable mention were: Tyler Jensen, Benson; Oden Rogers, NLS; and Brandon Schmitt, Dawson-Boyd/LQPV.

Willmar youth bowlers compete at Austin

Six Willmar youth bowlers took part in the USBC Youth Pepsi Championships May 4-5 at Echo Lanes in Austin.

In the scratch division, Chris Franzwa finished 10th in the U10 division with a 475.

In the USBC Storm Handicap championships:

10U girls-Kera Palmer, 2nd, 717 series.

12U girls-Nissa Johnson, 2nd, 729 series.

20U girls-Melissa Cardona, 13th, 6-game series 1,230.

15U boys-Jon Pattison, 15th, 6-game series 1,352.

20U boys-Chayce Sharp, 3rd, 6-game series 1,423.

Eight youth bowlers are slated to participate in the Qubica Family tournament, at The Park Grove Bowl in St. Paul Park with a chance to advance to an international tournament in Columbus, Ohio, in July.

West Central Conference top performers announced

Performers of the Week in the West Central Conference for the week of May 6:

North Baseball: Josh Buschette, Sauk Centre.

South Baseball: Nathan Meyer, Paynesville.

North Softball: Megan Schafer, Paynesville.

South Softball: Madison Moritz, Sauk Centre.

Boys Track and Field: Thomas Schwinghamer, Sauk Centre.

Girls Track and Field: Kari Hoeft, Paynesville.

Girls Golf: Morgan Kranz, Sauk Centre.
