Amateur baseball roundup: Rockets burn Starbuck

RAYMOND — Calvin Kosminskas socked a 2-run homer in the seventh inning and Herman Solomon threw seven strong innings to beat Starbuck 7-1 on Friday.

Kosminskas, who played for Tracy last year, now works in Willmar. Solomon, an Alaska native with a wife from the area and other relatives locally, recently moved back here from California. He played for Sacred Heart and Willmar in the middle of the last decade, according to Raymond manager Butch Steen.

Solomon gave up three hits and fanned five; the Starbuck run was unearned.

The Rockets entertain Granite Falls 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lilleberg Field.
