MORRIS - Kevin Asfeld's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth brought home the winning run in Morris/Chokio-Alberta's 2-1 victory over Montevideo on Tuesday at Chizek Field.

Montevideo took a 1-0 lead in the third when Chase Korte singled in Seth Kuno, and Morris/CA tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when Chandler Vogel singled, reached third on a passed ball and scored on Joe Kleinwolterink's single to left.

The Tigers' Brock Anderson pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit and striking out four to get the win.

The Tigers play host to ACGC in a West Central Conference doubleheader at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Renville County West exploded for four runs in the first inning and staved off a comeback effort against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Tuesday afternoon.

Trent Kjersten was a dominant 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs scored and Jack Howard added a home run in the victory.

Spencer Wohlman finished the day 3-for-4 as well with a stolen base and RBI.

Paynesville found offensive life late and Grant Ludwig pitched effectively as the Bulldogs came away with a 4-1 win on Tuesday.

Ludwig allowed one run on three hits while striking out six over six frames before Sam Oehrlein came in and recorded the save in the seventh.

Oehrlein added two hits and drove in a run, as did Zach Schroeder for the Bulldogs.

Paynesville plays a doubleheader at Kimball on Thursday, then a single game against Minnewaska at 7 p.m. Friday in Paynesville.

Kobe Holtz and Josh Kingery combined to allow three hits and only one run in a 10-inning victory over Melrose Thursday night.

Holtz was the hero with a one-out walkoff hit in the bottom of the 10th inning. Holtz also threw out a Melrose runner with two outs in the top of the 10th inning to end a scoring threat.

Holtz finished the day 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and struck out 10 batters with only two hits allowed and one run in 6-1/3 innings. He gave way to Josh Kingery, who picked up his first varsity victory with 3-2/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Natalie Amon knocked a single to walk off in game two against Alexandria Tuesday afternoon.

Amon's game-winning single offset a solid 2-for-3 performance from Alexandria's Kendra Hardy, who finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Jordyn Swoboda and Mackenzie Jones each went 2-for-4, with Swoboda reaching by double both times.

Ashley Prahl also went 1-for-2 with a double and four stolen bases. Savana Knutson tallied a game-high three hits.

Aby Kienholz capped a big day at the plate with a walk-off two run shot to guide Ridgewater past M-State Fergus Falls 7-5.

Kienholz went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the game to complement a shutdown relief pitching performance from Natalie Neumann. Neumann pitched the final five innings with only two hits allowed to steady the ship.

"It feels good," said Ridgewater head coach Datriana Jensen. "I'm really glad we were able to pull the win out. It was a big win."
