Willmar momentum stalls, Cards fall to Sartell

SARTELL - The momentum Willmar built in taking two from Rocori earlier in the week couldn't push the Cardinals past Sartell, which erased a deficit with a three-run third inning and tacked on two more in the sixth to win 5-2 on Thursday.

Sartell's Dylan Notsch had three hits and drove in a run and Riley Hartwig was 2-for-2 with a double and he drove in two runs.

Willmar's Jon Broman was 2-for-3 and Jack Baumgart and Andy Schultz both had RBIs.

Jayden Dierenfeld took a tough loss, as three Willmar errors led to three unearned runs.

The Cardinals open play in the BBE Invite, a wood bat tournament in Elrosa, at 4:30 p.m. today.

BOLD broke open a West Central Conference game with a six-run third inning on Thursday in Bird Island.

The Warriors' James Woelfel was 4-for-4 and scored a run, Andrew Sheehan tripled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Hayden Tersteeg and two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Cade Moorse had two hits and an RBI.

Tersteeg got the win and Matt Moorse got the final two outs.
