Area prep basketball fans will have plenty of opportunities to see good hoops action this week as the girls Heritage Bank WildCard Tournament and the boys Bremer Bank Classic kick off at Willmar High School.

The Heritage Tournament features four powerhouse teams. New London-Spicer is 6-2 and ranked No. 18 in Class AA, according to Minnesota-scores.net's QRF rankings. The Wildcats take on Minnehaha Academy at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Minnehaha is 5-3 and ranked No. 10 in Class AA QRF.
At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, undefeated Willmar (6-0) faces an Albany team (6-1) riding a six-game winning streak. Willmar is ranked No. 3 in Class AAA and Albany is ranked No. 8 in Class AA.
On Thursday, the Wednesday losers play for third place at 6 p.m. and the championship game is at 7:30 p.m.
The Bremer Bank Classic features eight area teams playing Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Lac qui Parle Valley (5-4) plays Sauk Centre (5-2) at 2 p.m., and MACCRAY (1-7) plays BOLD (6-2) at 3:45 p.m. BOLD is currently ranked No. 14 in Class A.
New London-Spicer (4-3) and BBE (3-4) play at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Central Minnesota Christian School (0-6) and Willmar (7-0) tip off at 7:15 p.m. CMCS is in a rebuilding year after losing all its players who helped the Bluejays compile an 80-13 record and three Section 3A championships the previous three years.
Willmar is ranked No. 5 in Class AAA QRF rankings.
On Saturday, Sauk Centre and CMCS meet at 2 p.m., BBE and MACCRAY square off at 3:45 p.m., BOLD and LQPV play at 5:30 p.m. and NLS and Willmar meet in their annual rivalry game at 7:15 p.m.
