Prep Basketball: Willmar wraps regular season with victory

WILLMAR — Willmar wrapped up a most impressive regular season with a solid 74-62 win over Central Lakes Conference rival Alexandria on Friday at the Willmar High School.

WHS' all-time leading scorer Noah Slagter came through big in his final regular-season game, finishing with 25 points and 12 rebounds as Willmar erased a one-point halftime deficit with a 45-point second half.

Drey Dirksen scored 11 points and had six rebounds, Cameron Murphy and Ryan Slette both scored eight points and Donald Jurek came through with seven points.

BOLD 79, SESM 42

BOLD may have posted its most impressive win of the season, thumping a 19-win Sleepy Eye-St. Mary's team on Friday to claim a spot in the Section 2A North Sub-section final.

The Warriors, now 24-5 overall and the North No. 2 seed, play North top-seed Sleepy Eye (24-4) for the sub-section championship at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Gustavus.

On Friday, BOLD limited SESM to just 13 first-half points and built a 30-point lead at the break.

Makenna Steffel had 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals, Taylor Sagedahl had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Makayla Snow also scored 16 points.

Ashley Trongard finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
