Prep baseball: Tech blasts Cardinals in twin bill

WILLMAR — Willmar dropped its sixth and seventh games of the season, falling to St. Cloud Tech in a doubleheader 16-3 and 8-2 on Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Cardinals are now 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the Central Lakes Conference.

Tech’s Isaac Matchinsky hit a grand slam in Game 1 and was the winning pitcher in Game 2.

Willmar’s Austin Smith hit a double and scored two runs in Game 1.

Cole Christensen and Adam Nibaur were the losing pitchers.

The Cardinals next play Monday at BOLD.
